Easy backpacking adventure for our kids – close to home, hiking all downhill, beautiful fall colors, drinking fountains.
Distance: 3.21 miles one way
Time: 2 hours
Start: We drove to the Rock Canyon Campground and hiked down with packs
Difficulty: Medium
Elevation Gain: 20 (all down hill)
Fee: N/A
We wanted an easy backpacking trip for the younger kids. Starting at the Rock Canyon campground, the trail was a constant descent. There are two drinking fountains along the path, one near the top and one near the bottom. There is plenty of shaded areas and a small river at times as well.
This is a popular trail, especially for rock climbers. Rock Canyon is an amazing area if you are into geography.
