Y Mountain Hike

The Y Hike is a steep, hot, crowded, and kinda ugly hike.  Some students and nearby residents jog it on a daily basis, and I commend them for it, but I like a little more variety to my workout (and to be honest, I’m pretty sure I couldn’t jog it so maybe I’m just jealous).

I’ve actually done this hike more times than I would like to admit.  But it is close to home and easy to do with only a two hour window.

Once you arrive on the Y, you are technically not even supposed to walk on it as this may damage the concrete and/or paint.   I’ve seen someone on it every time I’ve been there.  I haven’t been too diligent about keeping my kids off either, but realize it isn’t easy to get more concrete and paint to the top of this trail.

You can continue past the Y to Maple Flats as well as Provo Peak.

Remember to stay on the trail. The trail you see on the other side of the hill is just an animal trail, and you won’t enjoy hiking on it.
